Greetings, I'm looking for members of the illustrious GBHS cadet band from 1957 through to 1964.
Romey Doubell and I are planning a mother of a reunion with the sort of pomp and ceremony seldom seen for some years now. Bugles, Drums, pipes and serious giggles 'cause what's the past if not for savouring, join us - contact me on gcampetti@btgnet.co.za

How about some comments from teachers that were doing their stuff in 1964?

This is David Clack. I was at Germiston Boy’s and later Germiston High from 1961 through 1964. Graduated in 1964.

Teachers I remember were the crazy guy who taught Science and wacked the guys in the front row with his knuckle, can’t remember his name. Grobler was my Afrikaans teacher and he played rugby for Transvaal around 1962? Best teacher I ever had was Israel Fox – Maths and bookkeeping. He had polio and really struggled to walk – but what a teacher – his favorite sayings were “come on sausage” and “come on cookie.”

1964 was the year that they combined the Girls and Boys high schools for the 1st time – great spirit that year. I think every guy started playing rugby just to impress the chicks.

I seem to remember your name – we many have been in the same matric class of ’64. I also remember Romey Doubell I think, was he the Band major??? I played drums at GBH for a short while in about ’62.

I remember some of the students from the class of ’65 – Jean Malan and Marlene Eckhert – I think she ended being the head girl in her Matric year? Also David Goldblat and Ansano Romani. Lost touch with everyone long time ago Married a Kempton Park girl and moved there and then later to the USA.

Would love the join you guys but it’s a little far from California where I’ve been for the last 15 years.
